Bangalore: The findings of a survey conducted by the Chamber and Industry of India (Assocham), in order to assimilate the work preferences of men and women, suggest that over half of both men and women prefer flexible work hours; with fifty-two percent of men opting for flexible work hours as compared to an overwhelming eighty-two percent of women opting for the same, as reported by DNA.
Sources have inferred that women who don’t own a college degree are more likely to opt to staying at home rather than applying for a job. Marriage also plays a major role when it comes to the decision for women to continue with their job or choose to resign to their family’s household. Interestingly, eight-five percent of males surveyed on ‘Flexi HR Polices make working attractive for women’ were reported to have said that they preferred to marry working women as they can manage both work and family life.
The ‘Flexi HR Polices make working attractive for women’ is an extensive survey that covered exactly 2,500 female and 1500 male respondents. The survey was conducted across several cities in India, including: Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai and Udaipur.
The survey also reported that among working mothers of children aged between 0-4, only sixteen percent of Indian women prefer on working full-time in offices. The survey also gives us clues on how working mothers and stay-at-home mothers evaluate themselves as parents. The survey noted that working mothers rated themselves slightly lower as compared to part-time and stay-at-home parents.
Indian HR’s , today often offer women a flexible work-hour system, as it seems now that they understand the challenges women face when it comes to coping with both : work and family life and not to forget the importance of women’s contribution in everyday work of their business organizations.
