Women Make their Mark in "Male Territory"
Bangalore: Emma Brown, researcher and designer, working on a project which involves studying the role of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) recently developed this interesting infographic which was originally posted by mbaonline.com. We’d like to share the infographic as it clearly points out the advances that women are now making in tech, social media and even gaming! Truly, women today, rise to the challenge as they now have begun to make their mark in historically male-dominated sectors.
One among every four STEM jobs is currently held by a woman. And Even though only eight percent of venture-backed startups have women leaders, the number of women in IT has escalated by over 28% from 2011 to 2012.
"...There are some very impressive women working in technology, such as Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. However, women still only make up just 25% of the workforce in STEM careers." — Zoe Fox
