Bangalore: Although you may like the thought of it, but getting yourself a work from home job can be quite a challenge.  The hectic process includes weeding out the umpteen numbers of scams and sifting through the various job sites to find good opportunities, but most of all, you have got to ensure that you get a suitable job for your interests. Here are three guidelines to help in assisting you to find a suitable fit for you, which comes courtesy of  Holly Reisem Hanna via TheWorkatHomeWoman.com.

1: Polish Your Resume

For any job hunt you need to constantly polish your resume. A work at home gig is a highly desirable post and employers expect nothing short of the best. Update your resume, your references as well as your cover letter – you have got to ensure that you stand apart from the rest. It’s a good idea to customize your resume according to each specific job that you apply for; today employers prefer to first have resumes scanned by a computer searching for keywords and phrases that were used previously in their classified ad job description, be sure to fit in such details within your resume.
If you’ve been unemployed for a while, be sure that you document this and add note worthy achievements that may enhance your creditability; such as: volunteer experience, helping with a family business, personal blogging and so on.

2: Research Job Opportunities and Companies

Make time to research about the organizations that you’d like to work for. What are the necessary qualifications and equipments available for virtual employees? Do they offer incentives or other perks? Is there room for growth? Besides viewing the company alone, review what others have to comment about the company. Are their employees treated fairly well? By finding the organizations whose values and interests are similar to your own, you can help to ensure a suitable fit.

3: Integrate Social Media into Your Search

Actively engage yourself with the three big social networks: Twitter , Facebook and LinkedIn. Connect with old colleagues, friends as well as classmates, but also be sure to amplify your reach by following organizations that you’d like to work for, joining groups and meeting new people.
LinkedIn is an appropriate site to begin your job hunt, here you will be able to swiftly create a professional profile, look out for jobs and connect with your former, co-workers and managers. Ensure that you make your profile as approachable as possible on Linkedin.
