Women professionals, the lady doctor researchers make an average of $12,000 per year less than their male counterparts. So over the complete career, on an average female doctor researcher would make about $350,000 less than a man doing alike jobs because of salary differences. Disparity between men and women continues from a long time and it’s more visible when it comes to wage. The difference is quite possible due to working hours, work habits and uneven career choices. "Disturbingly, even after we controlled for all those other factors, we found that male doctors were paid more than female doctors for doing the same work," said Dr. Reshma Jagsi, the lead author of the new study from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor a study by Genevra Pittman, Reuters.

A questionnaire was prepared and targeted to 800 doctor-researchers in the U.S.  aged 45 years. It was found that men on an average made over $200,000 per year and women about $168,000. The difference was widely due to their working hours and career choice. Women worked with lower-paying specialties such as pediatrics and family medicine and if 58 hours per week was the working time for women 63 was for men. Salary gap is also a reason which cannot be ignored.  The researchers revealed that women made about $12,000 less than men doing the same type and amount of work. It’s also been found that women are less argumentative and aggressive when negotiation of pay/salary comes into picture but it’s found that they are more concerned about the location, community while choosing a job. Women accept slightly lower pay in return for less time being on-call and more predictability in their schedules. There is salary difference because of biased hiring procedure.
